Donate

Chasing Change relies on donations and philanthropic funding in order to provide the community with the events, resources and training to support the community to prevent suicide.

Chasing Change is a not-for-profit organisation which is proactive and committed to becoming a self-sufficient organisation. This means, we are aiming to reach a point where we can generate income and no longer be reliant on donations and philanthropic funding. We believe this is important to be able to sustainably fulfil the strategies we believe are essential in the effort towards suicide prevention.

In order to be comfortable asking for your donation, we as an organisation felt it necessary to explain exactly what any money donated will go to.

Who are you actually donating to:

First of all, the entire team of Chasing Change contribute their time and expertise on a volunteer basis.

Secondly, all donations to Chasing Change are donations to the community. All of our work is aimed at the community, whether directly  through supporting other community groups or more broadly by allowing us to put on events that engage with the community.

Chasing Change is made up of members of these communities. This means when you donate to Chasing Change, you are donating to community members trying to look after the wellbeing of other community members.

Where your donations go:

We also understand the importance of knowing exactly where your donations go. When you donate to Chasing Change the money flows from our online website into a secure PayPal account. From there PayPal takes a small processing fee, and then we are able to transfer your donation directly to our bank account. There are no other administration fees so you can be rest assured that as much of your donation as possible will head directly to supporting community initiatives to help save lives.

We routinely review our funds and allocate them to the cause or activity that needs it most. For example, your donation could go towards providing mental health first aid training to a local school or workplace or contribute to the costs associated with one of  our annual events, such as the Walk for Suicide Prevention or Blue Christmas.

Regardless of what your money is used for, we guarantee that it will contribute to something of value back to the community.

What should you donate:

Now, a question we get asked a lot – what should I donate?

We believe in being as transparent and honest as possible and monetary donations are the best form of donation we can receive. The reason for this is that it allows us to distribute the funds how they are needed, when they are needed.

While donated products and/or services are appreciated, it is much harder for us to pass this value directly back into the community.

If you want to donate to Chasing Change but you’re not sure where to start, please get in touch with the team at info@chasingchange.com.au

Why donate:

The next question after we answer, ‘what should I donate’ is ‘why should I donate’.

There are numerous charities and not-for-profit causes asking for money, let alone your child’s school raffle, or your footy clubs fundraising raffle. So, we understand the ‘why’ question is important.

Here at Chasing Change, we are passionate and dedicated to preventing suicide in our communities. While we are all volunteers we have costs associated with our events and training services.

But despite all of these things, we still can’t answer the ‘why’ question for you.

All we can say is that if you can, and if you do decide to donate, we are thankful. Not only are we thankful, but your communities are thankful. Your neighbours, your colleagues, complete strangers; so many people have unfortunately been affected by the heartache of suicide, so they are all thankful.

We promise, anything you give us will all go back to the very worthwhile cause of preventing suicide.
